Ouch! Nobody noticed that when it was just a small crack I guess. Looks expensive.

Put it back in place, weld it up with 7018s, and fish plate it.

not the first time an excavator has tried to break itself, will not be the last either. Just follow mitch's advise

And tell the operator to quit using the machine as a piling hammer, normal digging load wouldn't do that to a boom.

Thats going to be my saturday work, as soon as it is finished I wil post some pics. Our area is very rocky, we are very use to this kind of broken strctures in our machines

I imagine the crack started underneath the boom in the centre somewhere close to the end of the fishplate. How did the operator miss that crack when it first started (because surely it did not get to be that size overnight) as he did his daily walkaround inspections and/or his end of shift greasing..? With the bucket on the ground you're looking straight up at it FFS ..........

Places I've worked the only inspection the operators did was if the key fit the hole.

Some of our operators would have trouble finding the key hole if we didn't leave the key in it. LOL

Our kubotas tend to be the "driving school" for future operators, the guy that did this found a new machine wich I dont think he can break

It a known weak point on that Kubota model and a few others as well.......Mitch nailed the correct way to repair it .....good luck...

looks like a simple fix, at least they didnt finish ripping it off.

Pretty sure none of my operators would have noticed anything until the stick fell off. Then he would have motioned to me with the two fisted, rotating wrist sign language sign for "broken". Which, roughly translated from operatoreese, means "what a piece of sh.t, bring me another".

My operator told me that was not his fault, those japanese dont know nothing about making machines... :Banghead In my opinion operators are the machine´s biggest enemy, of course there are execptions, I got a 320c Cat with 11.000hours without a scratch, not even in the counterweight, when we are going to service it, the mechanic does not have enough courage to get inside the machine, its cleaner that his home
