anyone have any tips on replacing the bushings on the end of the dipper ? ive heard torch them out, use die grinders, etc, just looking for any info from people who have done it, thanks in advance
Torch, or weld a couple beads the length of the bushing, hot and quick. Then let it cool completely and it should be loose. Die grinder??? that would take a while wouldn't it?
the grinder would take a while but I was thinking of just cutting some relief cuts, and thanks never thought of the welder, I like that idea
It depends on the composition of the bushing. If it's all steel, a weld bead would work. But some bushings, such as common in Deere machines, have a composite metal with non-ferrous metal in the mix, doesn't allow a weld bead worth a flip, neither does it torch well, pretty much have to simply melt a relief in the bushing. With those type of bushings a die grinder with a sharp carbide burr works better.
