Bush Hog 2515

I was ask to look at a 2515 Bush Hog the rods that run from the hitch to the rear axle that make the front and back lift at the same time one was broken at the threads and the other had been welded at the same spot. It was bought last summer from a guy that had used it very little other wise it could pass as a new cutter. Is this a problem with Bush Hogs?

Bat wing mower I would first look at the ends of the tension rods. On the 2515 the clevis on the front has the slotted casting end where the pin goes in. The rear has a non slotted clevis. The length and tension has to be the same on both rods or it will snap the rods. We ran the 3715 heavy duty bat wings, and those also had to have the tension correct or they would snap a rod. The way the hitch and deck setup is they are holding the load. We used the eight airplane tires on the rear along with the heavy duty CV drive shafts. If the bar code stickers are on the drive shafts we would pull them off and tape them to the owners/parts book. They seemed to use different manufactures for them and knowing what came on it helps when getting parts. You can get the online parts and operator/setup instructions also by going to the bush hog site that may give you other info you need. I kind of think the tension was not correct to start with, and could have been like that from the pre delivery of the first owner or a field adjustment with it not being on a good flat surface during the adjustment to raise or lower the blade angle of the deck.
