helle guys, i was wondering if anybody know where i could get a new or used brake assembly for a track motor. its discontinued by case so thats out obviously. hoping someone has a parts machine or a spare laying around somewhere. If any one has any tips i would really appreciate it. this machine came with some land i bought, i already rebuilt the swing manifold and now i just realized the entire brake assembly is missing. with that being said. the rest of the machine works flawlessly.

In its day, the 1080B was a good machine. I put over 5000 hrs on one growing up. You had to use the brakes pretty much all the time digging parallel with the tracks. The problem with them was they are manually applied, with a toggle switch, and if you forgot to release them when you tracked, they would sometimes stick. The real fun began when that happened. You would have to pull the track motor, then the brake assembly. Take the brake assembly apart, and pry apart the brake linings. I could see why someone would just leave it off. As far as your question, I would start calling wrecking yards. About the only thing you can do, IMO.

So, is the motor just laying loose there? If so measure up the pilots and shafts, including spline tooth counts on both the motor and the gearbox, should be able to match up an AUSCO brake for you and point you to a distributor, or you can look one up local to you.

and yes the motor is just laying there. there is nothing but the motor with all the lines properly assembled and then the gear box for the track with the splined shaft sticking out. then four studs where everything bolts up too. i don't have a single piece of the brake assembly. someone must have taking it for a different machine.

Or took it somewhere to be repaired, got the estimate, or the news that parts were unobtanium, and that's where she stopped....
