i have a 1980 Case 1830 uniloader, with no drive on the left side, i got it at a bargain price from an older guy who didnt have time to work on it, he told me the drive motor needed a new seal and should be good.I thought id play round and investigate a little on my own to see if it was the drive motor or pump, after talking to a few people they suggested to cap the hoses that run to the drive motor, start up the machine, let pressure build up and use the left controller to move forward and back, and by doing this the machine would stall, meaning that the pumps working but not the motor. i tried this today and the machine never stalled just felt the same , does this mean the pump is stuffed and not the motor,i dont have any testing equipment and at this stage i want to try and work on it myself before i call someone in, any help would be great.
If you felt absolutely no change I would check the linkage if that is good the splines maybe stripped out
The linkage seems ok but will check it again this week, everything else works fine, right hand side drives ok, and it lifts and tilts no probs, looks like the issue is maybe the pump.
I tend to agree with mike that it is probably linkage but this system doesn't use splines. Check to see if the pin (#22) is present. http://www.colemanequip.com/Case-18...WARD-AND-REVERSE-CONTROLS-0rpY/?#partdiagrams
the pin has been replaced with a bolt, but it is there. im still thinking its in the pump somewhere.
The splines are probably worn down or the valve plate is cracked, charge pump gerotor, etc
can the gerotor be replaced/repaired or is it part of the pump assembly
Anything is replaceable but what is the collateral damage? Sounds like you just need to take the pump out and post pictures
I also have a case 1830 with no drive on left side sitting in machine. It started with the left control getting very sticky and the smallest movement would almost stall machine and was very hard to drive then it just stopped working. Off the ground the wheels turn but slow but will not turn on the ground. any help would be great I know little about hydraulics and can not test pressures.
