Hello, I bought a Case 1840 for cheap but with no forward or backward motion. Replaced hydrostatic tandem pump, checked splines, flywheel and shaft. When trying to get it to move, there is no whining from the charge pump, like it is in neutral. It's like the charge pump isn't charging. Checked for leaks and checked to make sure there is oil in the lines. I have the service manual. Anyone have any guesses. I would appreciate the help.
Are the drive chains in place heard of people removing them to tow skids before
Yes they're in place but thank you.
Can you confirm the tandem pump is brand new out of a box? Exchanged or reconditioned with warranty? Has it been bench tested? What was wrong with the old pump? Were the drive motors removed stripped & checked?
The new pump is reconditioned with warranty from All States Ag Parts. It was bench tested. We took the old pump in to a hydraulic place near us to get checked out. The guy charged us $300, took it apart, told us it was worn out and gave it back to us in pieces. After replacing the pump, we're still having the same problem. The motors haven't been checked yet. That's next on the to do list. Would both go bad at the same exact time? Also, the boom works fine.
On my 1845C machines, I've always had to repair the drive motors and tandem pump as a set. Doing one or the other never solved the problem. But, mine were always a lazy drive on one side. Never a zero travel condition. Zero movement of the motors? Can you source a pressure gauge and test pressure (or lack thereof)? On my 1845C machines, I can easily interface into the backup alarm switch ports to check drive pressures while in reverse.
If the tandem pump was worn, the drive motors will have the same type of wear showing - didn't any of these repairers / parts suppliers explain that?? It should have been clearly explained to you by the pump suppliers in order to keep your warranty.
