Case 40XT free rolling

Hello all, Rather a new owner to a 2005 model 40XT. Two issues I'm having. The first one is when you are operating the machine and stop (stopping, then remove your hands from the controls completely) the machine will roll on its own on the slightest incline. My past experience using skid loaders would be where the machine would auto engage some kind of break so that the machine does not roll when you are not wanting to move. Additionally, when you raise the safety lap bar above your head, the machine will continue to roll on a slight incline. Leading me to believe the parking brake function is not engaging. These two might be related. How can I adjust this? Thank you in advance!!

On your left corner post, does the red "P" light up at anytime? On your right corner post by the key switch, do the green icons light up? I don't know much about XT machines, is the button on your right joystick the horn button? Your lap bar switch may be shot or out of adjustment.

I looked up your machine in the parts book. It should have a mechanical park brake system. Remove the floorboard and check the linkage from the lap bar down to the brake parts. The brake spools on the 1835 and 1845 can get gummed up and don't slide into the front sprockets. Use some p oil on them if they are stuck.
