Does anybody out there know anything abiut this machine? I just bought a 1991 and was wondering if it has the wet brakes? It has the three brake pedals. what year did they do the transmission modulation? Just any experiences you may of had with machine. Why is this model number changed to 455 instead of just 450?

455c case track loader They had the 455B track loader with a 207 engine first. The 455C had the cummins cdc engine in it 4-390 or 4T390 at around 71 gross hp. 1983-87 they were built in Bettendorf, s/n 3075901-3079345, 1988 in Korea s/n GBE0001501 450c and GBE0004001 455c, 1988 in Wausau 450c. The wet brakes started in 1985 450c with s/n 3077259 and 455c s/n 3080159. 1988 had the modulated transmission from Korea.

The other thing was the paint, 455b was a case orange and black, the later 455c,855d,1155e,1455b all had the power tan and brown along with the cummins engine. The first 455c had both a dry then later change to wet brakes. Case reworked the loader frame and bucket links along with being able to get on or off the machine from either side unlike the early units I would think for sure your machine has wet brakes, it was a good grading/light clearing machine. There was several around with the 12' backhoe and rippers on the back years ago. Still see one around now and then working.

Thanks, you know more than the dealer does! Im new to crawlers. I am gonna have to put a whole new undercarrage on my new toy. Chain, sprockets, rollers etc. Havnt called around yet. Any ideas? took it up the driveway a couple times and am really getting comfortable with the steering now.( using the transmission to steer. Thanks again!

I have had a 1985 455c Loader since new. It has the dry brakes and no modulation. It has done nearly 10k hours now and has been a great machine. The motors are pretty much bullet proof, the only weakness I have seen is in the alternator/fan drive system, (Hard on belts, alt bearings, tensioner and water pump), and the rockers wear needing regular valve clearance adjustment. I have had no major breakdowns at all and it still uses no oil between services and has no oil leaks. Very well balanced machine and great for fine trimming. Good luck with your 455.

Case 455C Long track Loader with backhoe

Case 455C Long track Loader with backhoe I located thread stock and had a new tension adjuster assembly built. It works great and I have enough thread stock to build another if necessary. The next problem is locating a source for some of the mechanical assemblies. I need a Pin Latch retaining D99037. Someone in the past rebuilt the boom stick and left off one of the spacer washers. That allowed side tension and it sheared off the square retainer plate. I would like to replace it with one that hasn't been repaired. Does anyone know how to get the technical description of the part or a replacement part?

The transmission in the 450 and 455 C series is rock solid. The CDC 4-390 is just as solid. The transmission controls can be adjusted for a stiffer or lighter feel also. Some guys like them with almost no detent some like them with a real grab. You two smaller brake pedal can be used to steer. With a slight pressure they will not apply the brakes just dump the clutch so the track is in neutral for a slow turn. Fully depressed the pedal applies the brake for a sharper turn.
