Im posting this for a friend-He has a Case 480 E backhoe that will not move. Said he was loading dirt with it and it just stoped. It runs fine, just will not go forward or backward. He pulled it home and is not sure whats wrong with it. Any suggestions as to what to look at? We have not checked anything at this point, and know there is a bunch of people on this forum that are way smarter than me. Thanks!
Check the power shuttle for oil, it has to running to check the fluid level.
Also check to see that the clutch cut off is not activated. A sure fire way to check, get under the left side of the machine and unplug the solenoid. If the was the problem the machine will move.
Thanks for the help. Can you tell me where I need to check for fluid? We have no book or manual, so im not sure where to check? Same with the solenoid. Where exactly is it located on the left side of the machine? Thanks for the help!
Hi deeredriver. Raise the loader arms and install the safety prop. If you machine does not have the safety prop, DO NOT work under raised loader arms. Open the hood to the engine compartment. On the right side of engine, at rear, you should see the dipstick for the power shuttle. Check with engine running, you can use Dexron fluid or hyd fluid in shuttle. Item #54 in this illustration is connected to the fwd/rev lever linkage from the lever on steering wheel. Item #55 is the declutch solenoid. It mounts right through item #54. Disconnect the harness plug connection to the solenoid and see if that fixes your problem.
