Case 580 M- Heater temp control knob

Well, the temp control for the heater does not appear to be working on my series 1 580 M, would be nice to turn down the heat and still have cooler air to keep the windows from fogging. I have a new temp control, it comes with a long probe looking affair, does anyone have experience with changing these? Just wondering where it is routed, before I tear things apart.

What you have is the A/C temp control switch. The probe goes up into the evaporator core. If you are trying to regulate the heat the problem is the heater control valve not the A/C temp switch. The heater valve is a gate valve that controls the coolant flow to the heater core. The lever at the valve could be broke or the cable could be broke or unhooked.

That makes a little more sense... Sounds like I did not get the right part at the dealership, and I need to make a swap. Thanks for the clarification, that saved me a lot of grief. Any idea where the gate valve is, and where the cable is routed from the gate valve to the control knob?

Pull the panel out carefully were the control is mounted and see if the cable is working correctly and the control end. Then fallow it back to the valve which is mounted behind the dash and see if the cable is moving the lever on the valve.
