I bought this backhoe about 6 years ago and it had a starter problem. The man loaned it to his son,and the son returned it though the woods and a log kicked up and broke the starter off. when it did it pulled the ring gear off the flywheel. So i just got around to splitting it and repairing the ring gear. before i started it i figured it would be wise to change the fluids.when i drained the oil coolant came out first, then oil. i am thinking the cylinder liner O rings are leaking from setting so long. what are your thoughts on using block sealer on this motor ? PS: its a case 188D engine
Did you test the coolant to determine if it is able to withstand freezing temperatures ? You could have a cracked head or cylinder. I would not put sealer in it. That may lead to more damage if fails while running the motor. Remove the oil pan, fill the radiator, and then pressurize it. You should be able to see where the leak is.
That is a very good idea ,i will try that. Thanks
