Can anyone tell me what oil to use in the dipstick tank under the drivers seat on a case 580 c backhoe pls
Pull the dipstick and give 'er a sniff 80/90 gear lube has a very distinct smell and feel, that's what's in mine, that dipstick is for the transaxle. Is this your machine? If you've got any more questions I suggest posting them lower in the tractor,loader,backhoe section you'll probably have better luck with a response.

If you search the threads for 580C in the TLB section you can probably find a link to download repair and parts manuals for free. If you prefer old school paper check out peaceful creek manuals on ebay, got the full parts, repair and oem owners manuals for about $125. If that machine is a new acquisition you're gonna need them.
