Did you check the #1 piston push rods for looseness when you had TDC ? It is very easy to mistakenly have #4 piston TDC when the timing marks are lined up. Fuel shut off cable adjusted properly to get full open position ? Any smoke while cranking the engine over ?

The drive shaft HAS TO BE inserted into the pump correctly.. on the right stroke.. Did u read the part about “dot to dot”.. dot INSIDEthe pump to the dot on the end of drive shaft..?? THAT insures your on the correct stroke..

Possibly wrong piston-pushrods on cylinder closest to radiator were loose.Very little white smoke.

1 more thing while I'm thinkn about it.. The shut off arm/lever on the "back side' of the pump will get bent in transit.. MAKE SURE the shaft is hitting the stops when moving the cable from RUN to SH/OFF.. Just because the cable is moving doesnt mean the shaft/lever at the pump is..

Thanks again Pump Guy and Tinkerer-pump was 180 off.I lined up the dots and it started right up.A little more white smoke than before ,but not too bad
