my case forklift transmission just quit working. it was very low on oil. filled it up and still nothing. pulled filter and was clean any ideas on what to check for and do. it is an auto matic:Banghead
So are you talking a 584/585/586 C forklift. If you are talking this your machine should have a power shuttle that mounts to the converter housing and a drive shaft that connects the F/R shuttle to the trans/rear end. The shuttle trans oil fill dipstick is above the starter and is checked with the machine running in neutral. There is no trans filter just a screen inside the oil pan on the shuttle. The 4 speed trans and rear end uses a common gear lube and the dipstick in under the floor board. It could be also that a clutch cutout switch is also bad making the trans shuttle dump it's pressure and not allowing it to move. If your machine does not have a driveshaft between the shuttle and trans/rear end and it's made like a farm tractor with a outside frame for the forklift then you are dealing with a 580ck or a 580bck. We need to have this info to help you out.
