This post is a little vague. Are the levers locked? If it is Pull the red string, and try and lower the boom. If you can raise and lower it, then you may have a bad door switch or interlock solenoid.

Lifted forks and they will tilt up and down but will not lower-where is the red string? forks will drift down after several hours--thanks for your help.

Been a while, but have had this happen on two xt case machines...the factory solenoids that control the lift and tilt functions get water in them easily and they short out. Replacement ones are better. Should be a fuse blown at same time. Stick a new fuse in it and you might be able to get them down. I've used a fuse 5 amps more with same results. The red handle is over to the right by the seat, I believe. IT also goes into a solenoid which allows the hydraulics to drift down (hopefully, I'm remembering this correctly).

It will be a red string or lever, to the right of the seat. It is attached to the interlock solenoid. Pulling that will release the spool lock pin, and allow you to lower the boom down. If your bucket still moves, the other interlock solenoid is working, so you will not have a blown fuse. Sounds like you need a new boom interlock solenoid.
