Anyone have a old tie rod tube for a 680H P# D66468 they want to sell. Please let me know Stan
Are you referring to the tube between the tie rod ends ? I have seen some really badly bent tubes. They are easily repaired by straightening them out and then weld an angle iron on the entire length.
It's a simple fix like tinkerer said, that tube is around 200.00, I always kept angle on the truck and have done around 40 over the years on the road and many more in the shop. Depending on your king pins and wheel bearing set you toe at 0-1/8 toe in. After removing the tie rod and doing your welding adjust your ball joints as needed and retighten things up. If it's at the end near the ball joint you may need a piece of pipe to stiffen it up and have a little more to weld to.
Tinkerer Thanks for that. Had not thought about using a piece of angle iron to strengthen the tube. Should be an easy thing to fix.
Glad we were able to help.
