Case 680H Electrical Issue

RMT · 2018-07-09 13:21

I have an old Case 680H backhoe that appears to have no connectivity at all. The batteries are fully charged but nothing will work. Not the ignition, no lights, no instruments, nothing. I took the battery cables off and even removed the ground wire from the chassis and cleaned everything. When I went to reattach the ground it sparked gently when contact was made. Any ideas what the culprit might be?

Jumped the starter today and have fire there, but nowhere else. Can’t find a breaker or fuse anywhere! Don’t appear to have anything at the ignition switch.

A volt meter is your friend. Start at the batteries and follow the wires checking voltage. Look for no more than 1/2 volt drop in any connection. Ground connections included. Clean connections as you go. It will make sense as you do it.

#10 & #11 are crcuit breakers. Also check the harness plug for looseness and /or corrosion. You can go to the online parts book and find more electrical diagrams here ----> https://partstore.casece.com/us/par...67e157255&sl=EN&currency=#epc::mr67900ag39555

#11 is two more circuit breaker locations you can check for current in and out.
