Case 855c drive issue

Jbuilder · 2017-11-17 01:41

Hey guys, new to the forum and humbly asking for some wisdom. I️ have a cas 855c that was working great.... However, the left track stopped driving forward and reverse. After playing around a bit I️ found I️ could drive it if I️ engaged the parking brake. (Got it out of the hole I️ was working in). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to HEF @Jbuilder ! I've been thinking about this, I just can't figure how pulling on the park brake got the machine to drive. Technically, pulling on the park brake should prevent the pinion shafts from turning, stopping ALL drive, if the brakes are working correctly. Do your pedal brakes feel like they are working? Do the brakes actually function under normal circumstances? Possibilities - 1) Brake/transmission neutralizer at transmission control valve issues - sticking valves? 2) Final drive failure, & locking up the LHS allowed the RHS to somehow pull you out of the hole, with the LHS free wheeling in neutral? 3) Somehow, I don't think your brakes are working as they should. The pedals may feel as they are working, but the brakes are not actually being applied - either a clevis pin has fallen from an internal linkage, brake disc splines are stripped or brake discs are just worn out. We need a little more info to assist. If you have the park brake on & select LH only, any gear - does the track engage? If the park brake is off, you still have no drive? (LHS)
