I have a case 85xt skid steer ibuilt a wood splitter for it. Iit seem not to have the power i feel it should some times in ash wood it will only bust wedge in an in or two before it stops. Is there any way to increase the power to the aux hyd?
The relief is in the main control valve. So as long as you are getting 2800psi at the aux couplers, then that is all the pressure you should have. You may have made the cylinder too small for what you want. You may have leaking cylinder seals too. What size of cylinder do you have?
the cylinder was rebuilt with all new seal and the cylinder is about 3 inches across and a stroke of 33in
If it's actually 3" bore you should have near ten ton at 2,800 psi. If it's 3" outside then it's more like seven ton force. As GaryHoff alludes to, you need to measure your pressures. Do you have a separate control valve on the splitter or do you just run it with the machine's aux valve?
