getting outside the box on this 1 posted in wrong thread then lost it trying to move this. apologize if this comes up twice. i got a case cx330 excavator, which is the .... of the industry alot of parts are made by companies that service cat, deere, link belt, hitachi so forth. 1st thing i noticed is the travel peddle was broken. right hand track doesnt work. top it off swing doesnt work unless pulling back the travel pedles. weak at best. the travel pedal isnt avaible in the us and the 1 in the uk and other in germany case ih wouldnt ship. crossed it to the manufacture, found a indentical 1 to cat. while thats on order i flipthe travel lines over. now right side works full power. run some tests, then both tracks start to work. flip the lines back and right peddle that i got to work temporaly now runs left. this machine has the single peddle option for forward and back. the pedle was bypassed but the valve block wasnt. also was some leakage down here. the cat bolted directly in, no mods needed. being there made by the same company and are univresal with linkbelt even doesnt surprise me. got the travel valve bypassed per factory specs without it. this involves the 4 lines from travel peddles and the 2 from froward and reverse being eliminated and using the 4 main lines. fire it up i got power and swing back. but then lost it. i got very weak power on right track, and the only way the swing works is by either pulling the travel peddles weak at best, along with turning on/off free swing. thought there might have been air still in the system and rechecked. not sure if i should do a hard purge. i had the dealer for the machine come out to run some hydraulics tests. took a bit as they didnt even want to come out. get here and they dont have the tools for it. so ordered a pressure test kit. i know i got a few pressure releif springs out of adjustment. when its runing for a hour, light use to get up to temp, everything warmed up i start to loose power. acording to the computer i got 4200 psi on startup and its better when warmed up. pilot pressure is showing 33psi, which is .22 mpa and by looking at the charts need 3mpa from pilot pump. not sure if i should bleed pilot pump nor best place to put a gauge to see the pressure its at. theres several diagrahms on this machine just over 4000 pages in all. still missing some data and numbers as the parts book have things like the free swing, where as the manual, services do not. been working on equipment 20+ years not my 1st problem machine, but 1 that is proving to be dificult. if pilot does check out to be weak i will end up replacing it. if i cant get a case pilot will have to track down the source. not sure where else to look. theres also 2 ways to adjust pressure releifs, 1 is to tighten the screw and the other is to shim. both are mentioned. not sure whats best. any information or spec sheets is helpfull. most of what i finding in eu, that has more depth. makes things interesting. at times also the pressure engine/ pump will surge. but pressure doesnt. theres a few seeps by the pump but nothing even minor.cn get pics.
Good day If I have interpreted your text correctly you have isolated the issue down to the "Control valve". I am finding it difficult to follow what the actual issue with the valve is and why it cannot be fixed. The valve is common to many makes and Im sure there are alternative supplies on the market if this is necessary. I dont know if you have the attached information so I have posted. Kind regards Uffex
Sorry missed attchment Information
the control pedal has been replaced and problems continue. still do not have power on the right track. but flipping the right and left track lines at the pedal. the right track works. so eliminates any issues at the main valve. the pedal itself is working. logically this scenario is impossible but is happening. biggest issue is the swing. still trying to figure that mess out. pressure test kit should be here tomorow, so will be checking to make sure the pilot pump has enough pressure.
Good day The problem just arrived nothing has happened before? Kind regards Uffex
we got the machine as a basket case, got a good deal on it. they where engaging the travel pedals to get the swing to work. only 1 track worked when we got it. 5 different mechanics looked at it the previous owner said and couldn't figure it out. i don't put much stock into that. i have seen and fixed alot of things this newer generation cant fix. they show up wanting to plug a computer into everything it to get answers. the high pressure side functions besides pressure reliefs that are out of adjustment. the bucket, boom, stick all work just fiine the pilot side is the problem, is where i am leaning towards. p1 4200psi, p2 33 to 68 psi but stays at 33 most of the time. n 80 psi rereading thru the book, p1 pressure checked, boom raising, dipper retracting and extending, lh and rh swing, rh travel p2 pressure checked raising-lowering boom, dipper extending and retracting, bucket opening-closing lh travel N is pump negative pressure, whats odd about the above is closing the bucket, boom, stick, against stops increases the pressure on sensor p1. but not p2. if this book is accurate then i definitely have a dead sensor. being this is mechanical doesn't explain much.
Good day I suggest the attached. Kind regards Uffex
went thru that, will be putting pressure gauges on it tomorrow and see where there might be a problem.
Good Monday to you sir. Have you checked pressures on chk screen on IC? Also have you checked fault codes on diag screen? There is a plug in elbow for pilot pressure where pilot pump line goes into block where accusatory and filter is mounted. You can attach a 1,000 psi gauge there to check p press. Run machine at low idle and full rpm’s don’t engage functions. Check it cold and at oper. temp. Oh one other question does the arm function properly when problem arises? P1 pump operates arm, swing, RH track and aux. valve.
yes i checked the pressures, p1 is at about 4000 psi, down 30% p2 is dead 0 psi, pilot is at 250 idle and 750 full throttle. either a dead pump or controller. on this machine the p1 and p2 control the arm, stick. by opening both travel pedals, theres enough fluid to back feed to the swing function. this machine has a Kawasaki pump, which is a rebuild. which there is some available. problem with these pumps is there not worth fixing, and getting a rebuilt unit the failure rate is as high as 1 in 4. fortunately this is a mechanical pump, so i need to find another similar pump i can bolt in and make work at this point. any ideas or experience on pump swaps is appreciated. i have done it before just not on this machine. biggest thing is getting a big enough pump and setting the pressures correctly to match the machine specs. which is all strait forward on that end. some point in about 4k hours this machine will need a engine and will be putting a cummins in. easier to get parts for. thats a few years down the road but i am keeping that in mind.
getting pilot pressure to each pump controller for sure??
the only thing that seemed off but from what the manual said and the hydraulic shops, the dead pump has 86psi. but that line running to the controller should be at or near 0. which makes sense and it doesn't. will get a picture up. edit, tried post a picture but even down sizing and compressing its to large. theres only 1 line on the pump not engaging and that line is at 80 psi. this lie runs to a pressure sensor, which gives the N reading on the chk, from the sensor that line runs up to the main control valve.
ok so figure out the picture problem, its on my profile now/
well got some bad information, bad manuals from the looks of things. i couldnt figure out how p1 pressure was good on the machine and it controls the swing and rh track and p2 is showing 0 and everything works. getting into the teardown rebuild manual it shows p1 as close to the engine and p2 the rear of the pump by the pilot. several diagrahms i have show this all flipped. so the sensor wire are flipped. which means my p2, negative pressure is good. now i need to go thru recheck and find numbers for the p1. so dam frustrating, but why i check and try to proof everything. set to pull the pump tomorow. going to rerun some tests on this.
Swap your hyd. lines going to control valve at pumps.
with the type and size of lines align with angles there isn't enough movement to do that on this machine. the lines have 6 inches of steel flange that's preset angle that wont swap and there 2 different lengths and go to 2 different areas of the machine. ran a few more tests and several things are not working on the pump, so just finally pulled it and got a new 1 coming. all 3 controllers where not functioning correctly. even the proportional variable voltage solenoid valve was dead, couldn't get it to fire by jumping. the voltage from the computer to it isn't working either, got .51 volts of what should be 24 volts. chase everything up to the cab. worse yet the valve itself isn't available and no parts available. so even on a new pump, will have to use something different. more then likely will try to get something similar and use a variable speed toggle switch and set marking based on rpms of the machine. not as smooth or fuel efficient. but that life after covid. fortunately no metal in the tank nor lines. so although worn/ on its way out the pump was pulled in time. did check the electrical from the cab back and everything is good. everything is point to the pumps. besides the pumps, only 3 areas remain on the machine, the main valve assembly, pressure reliefs, and the swing motor. so narrowing things down.
