Hi All I bought a used TR310 at an auction and it is riddled with issues. It had 35 codes in the display and an ATS failure keeping the machine from barely moving. I was able to clear out the codes and recheck it. The codes Im now getting are: 1051 no CAN communication with the engine controller, 9152 bus warn at CAN bus 1, 3986 EGR pressure sensor voltage is lower than expected. Any idea where to start? Im assuming there is something going on with the wiring harness, connectors, or ecm......
Dealing with basically the same issues one UCM has a 1905 and 1906 faults that will not clear the second UCM has a 9406 fault
Engine harness issues are not unheard of on those machines. If it has that big, ugly plastic thing on top of the engine with a bunch of loomed wiring running into it I would pop it open and take a look. I would be surprised if you didn't see some wires rubbing together in there. Frame grounds also seem to be a bit of a common thing with these machines as well.
Test resistance in wires, starting on your battery cables. Make friends with your favorite ohm tester. In Bobcat you want to see .07 or less resistance. Anything over that amount means broken/ breaking wire, corrosion (could be in the middle of a wire, not visible to the plain eye), loose plug connection, loose or pushed back terminal in a plug, etc...
Been burnt by testing wires with an ohmmeter before. Voltage drops are much more accurate IMO.
Take a cable with 100 strands and cut 99 out of the middle with good cutters. Test with your ohm meter and it will produce the perfect continuity. As 92U 3406 said Voltage drop testing is way more accurate. Simon C
