CAT 130G

sfrs4 · 2020-01-06 07:52

I have a good customer who has lost air pressure in the brake system on his CAT 130G grader, we have it down to afailing compressor....easy.. the problem we have is that we can't for love nor money find a serial number plate so I can start to find part numbers for the parts we require, I have got the compressor down to what the internet leads me to believe is 1w-6473 but i need to make sure I have any required seals for the job eg pipe seals, o'ring to gear drive etc, can anyone shed some light onto 1. where's the ID plate? 2. any part numbers for the associated seals required to fit. 3. With it being military spec will it even appear on the cat parts system?

What’s the grader Serial Number.? Maybe also the engine S/N.? Should be able to find the info from those numbers. Edit: read your OP again. Are you saying you can’t find the machine S/N.? If that’s the case get the engine number.

Hi Nige, yes we can't find a serial number plate on the machine, it may be missing it may be that we are looking in the wrong place, Cat's and even more so graders are a little out of our comfort zone so not sure where any of the serial numbers are located normally.

Will be stamped on the main frame

Look on the RH side of the frame forward of the cab, right where all the hydraulic hoses dive under the frame reinforcement. See photo. If there is no plate, look for a number stamped on the frame in the same location. Engine number will be on the LH side of the engine (it is installed facing "backwards" so the RH side of the machine). Look on the block just underneath the cylinder head. See photo.

You need to be careful. I did a brief search for 130G air compressors and came up with over 140 hits and a bunch of different Part Numbers. TBH thinking about it an engine S/N is probably the best guide because the air compressor is part of the Engine Arrangement.

Thank you so much Nige massive help, i will get one of the lads to nip out to the job and get a serial number, If i get no joy with Finnings "dedicated parts call center" i may be back to you for more help if possible?

Get him to call you from the job site with the Serial Numbers and post them up here. You'll probably get an answer way faster than the dealer's Parts Dept. As I said above, have him look for an engine S/N (and Arrgt No, it should be on the same plate) first because the air compressor is part of the engine arrangement.

If you have a military 130G it should have a plate with MEM DV042 09Y commercial # 74V or DV052 7GB commercial #74V2075. Cat parts will have this interchange. Bob

Just playing devils advocate here, what led you to the conclusion that the compressor failed???

When the fitter arrived, the machine had been stood overnight where it had been forced to stop the day before due to low air pressure warning light, it was started up and air pressure started to build but not very fast, after a few (unknown but more than normal) min the machine had built enough pressure to release the brakes and move it to the workshop (500 yds) it was then left to run for a while while further checks were carried out as the customer had said that there was no air pressure yesterday. some 30-40 min later after checking round the machine for obvious air leaks, they tried the brakes and noticed that the air pressure wasn't building back up, removed the air line from the compressor and little to no air coming out, assuming as it gets hot the compressor is failing.

So we now have the part number from the actual fitted compressor, it is a 1W 6473. but still need any help with required fitting seals the machine info is as follows Machine: 103G mil s/n: 7gb00394 Engine Model: 3304 D1 s/n: 07708581 Arrg: 5R7277

  12. #12Cmark2020-01-07 05:05

That's all good info and makes it pretty easy. The 1W6473 compressor is no longer available but there is a Yellowmark (Chinesium) part number 4489150 and there are several available Worldwide.

By the way, your engine serial number is probably 07Z08581, and the gasket as you can see is 2P0220.

Thanks Cmark, i had just come to the same conclusion, are all the pipe connections compression (without seals) fitting?

  15. #15Cmark2020-01-07 05:50

Yes. Unless I'm mistaken they should be SAE inverted 45° flare. No seals required, apart from pipe sealant or PTFE when you screw the elbows into the new compressor.

Thank you all so very much for your help, it is hugely appreciated.
