Hello everyone, I need some help diagnosing a steering problem on my CAT 130G Motor Grader, Serial No. 74V02423. The steering is extremely hard/tight. So far we have done the following: Replaced the steering control unit Checked the hydraulic pump Checked hydraulic/steering pressure Increasing engine RPM does not make the steering lighter Changed/replaced the compensator valve, but the problem remains the same When the front axle/wheels are lifted off the ground, the machine steers much better, although the steering is still not as light as it should normally be Before replacing the compensator valve, we also noticed something interesting during adjustment: When the mechanic adjusted the compensator valve, the steering could steer but it was hard, and the other hydraulic functions stopped working properly. After adjusting it again, the opposite happened — the other hydraulic functions worked, but the steering stopped working properly. We have now replaced the compensator valve, but the original hard-steering problem is still there. I would appreciate advice from anyone familiar with the CAT 130G 74V-series hydraulic/steering system. Could the problem be related to the piston pump servo valve, priority valve, steering cylinders, hydraulic flow, or another valve in the system? Also, since the steering improves significantly when the front wheels are lifted off the ground, what would you recommend checking next?
are your steering cylinders bipassing have you checked pressures
