Cat 225 excavator part number 8k2183

Vernon Lowe · 2023-06-03 15:43

i don't know what this pn is but it is a square block that connects to a valve assembly that has another square block at the bottom that has 3 rubber oil lines feeding it and a round metal pipe connects these 2 and the cat pn tag on the assembly is 8k2183. Mine is leaking oil from the tube that connects the 2. The tube seems to be made as part of the bottom block but the top block can swivel on the tube. I'm trying to figure out if this assembly will come apart and if there's a seal where the tube swivels in the top block or if i have to replace the assembly.

there's a tube connecting the block that #'s 15,16,17 are shown on. This part #11 came off as an assembly #'s 10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17 are all as 1 assembly. I just need to know if that tube has a replaceable seal

That'll be the 1P-3709 Seal #10 I suspect. The parts list quotes four of them and they are used on all the steel lines with a groove. There is actually a #10 shown at that location but detailed as a hidden part (in dotted lines). The Seal will fit in a groove on either the Block 11 or the elbow that bolts to it. Wihtout a photo it's hard to tell which. How about posting one.?

i don't know how to post a pic. It's not the o-ring bosses that are numbered. It's the tube connecting both blocks in the pic.

See that "Attach File (paperclip)" at the bottom of your reply box. Click on it, select ypour file and voila...... Or you can click on the "attach image" icon on the top line.

if you draw a straight line down from #14 to the reduced area of that block you'll see another reduced area that is a tube in the center connecting both square blocks

I’m pointing to the area with a screwdriver that it’s apparently leaking from. The top section that has the o/ring boss swivels on that tube that is one assembly with the bottom square block.

There are no O-rings in the Tube Assembly in your photos, either where your srewdriver is pointing or anywhere else. Breaking it down to the individual part level the 8K-2183 Tube Assembly consists of two blocks and a tube that are welded together. If it is definitely leaking from that location (are you sure.?) I would suspect that the weld between the tube and the block on the end has cracked.

I’m not 100 percent sure it’s leaking at that joint ,it’s either leaking where I’m pointing at or at the oring mating surface. It’s leaking too bad to tell for sure. I just don’t wanna put it back together and it leak from that pipe. It’s definitely not welded because it’ll spin

The weld is broken in that case. Prove it to yourself. Clamp one of the blocks in a vice and hit the other block with a hammer & drift and try to separate the assembly. You may have to rotate the block at the same time but it should "screw off" eventually. The block that is rotating around the tube will come off if you hit it hard enough & often enough. Once the pieces are separated you should be able to see the remnants of the weld.
