CAT 242 Low Hydraulic power. Schematics needed

andrew80 · 2013-03-04 07:42

Hola muchachos: We have this skid and is running with this problem. Doesn´t have hydr. power. Engine works fine. The machine is way south from the shop (like 500 miles). I told them to change hydr and fuel filters and the thing is with the same problem. During the week the skid was working fine. We put it on a truck, went south, unloaded and started to give this problem. I assume it´s having problem with the hydraulic system but don't know where to start. Can you give me some light on this? And also if you can send me the electrical and hydr diagrams? Serial for this machine is: cat242BABXM02116

Do the hydraulics run at all? On one of our 242B3's we had an issue with a bigger operator flexing the seat too far and bumping the fuse/relay blocks behind/next to the seat. Then his shoulder bumped the relay for the loader joystick just a bit and everything quit.

Just the aux system doesn't work. The bucket and hammer are with slow power. But wheels and the rest work fine. This machine has just one switch (top left) for cutting the aux oil. All fuses are fine.

Now I know what happened. There was a plastic bag inside the hydr tank filter. When removed, machine started to work fine. Don't asked me how it came in, it was just there

Nice to hear you got to the bottom of the problem, but now you have another. Which one of your mechanics or operators (on site I would assume since you said the machine left the shop 500 miles away in ful operating condition) is being careless with plastic bags ...?? Often things like this are not accidental.
