I am working on a cat 246c that is blowinig the quick coupler fuse when trying to lock or unlock tools has anyone had this problem and could help me find the problem:
Hi Dave, to blow your fuse when operating the coupler switch, means there is a short to ground some where in your wiring, or the coupler solenoids them selves . to help isolate where the problem is, disconnect the connector near the coupler solenoids and operate your switch and see if the fuse stays intact this should give you a direction to start looking . here is a diagram of the wiring
Hi Mark i have disconnected the coils and it still blows the fuse,i also removed the switch and the fuse socket it still hot
It sounds like you have a short to ground further back than the connector CONN 11 shown in Mark's diagram above. If you disconnected the switch and the fuse is still blowing then a short to ground in the circuit between fuse and the switch is the most likely place. If you want a complete electrical schematic for your machine drop me a PM with the Serial Number and your email address.
