Cat 297C right drive locked-up

Recently purchased a 2007 Cat 297C skid steer, serial # GCP00313, right front hub was bad and came with a new one, installed it and new idler wheels. The previous owner said when I was buying it that the right final drive had been rebuilt, and that it was dragging and just needed to be used to free it up. On first drive it pulled to the right and in a short time it stopped pulling and drove straight without and problem. Shut it down, about an hour later went to move it and the right track was locked up. Left track moves normally, checked oil level in right drive OK, checked wheel speed sensor OK. two odd things that happens is when you start it and release the parking brake the lift arm work as they should but once you try to move the machine the arms move very slowly, also when you try to move foreword the operator alert light comes on but if you move it in reverse slightly the light goes out. I retrieved a bunch of codes: 70-3, 96-3, 490-3, 600-3, 1251-4, 2471-3, 2475-3, 2477-3, 2685-2, 2686-2, 2685-8, 2686-8. do not have access to Cat ET scanner or software. Several of the codes indicate high voltage, is there a common denominator between the high voltage codes. Looking for advice on a starting point to get this fixed.

Couple of questions. How exactly did you retrieve the Codes.? Do you have any idea which ones of them are Active.?

Used the screen on the rightside panel, unknow what is active and what is not, there were some event codes but I didn't right them down.

OK. Check out the attachment which contains the instructions of how to use the keypad on the RH panel to access the various Diagnostic Modes. Note that when you first go from Operator Mode and enter into Service Mode it takes you straight into Mode 1 which is Active Diagnostic Codes. So concentrate on Service Modes 1 & 3 for now, as they contain the Active Codes/Events.

Ok following the instructions this is what I have found. Hold both buttons 3 sec goes to blank screen with open book symbol upper left corner, push mode button once, now a floppy disc symbol and these codes 2475-3, 2477-3, 70-3, gives me all the other codes that I listed the previously starts back at 70-3, without the 2475-3 and 2477-3. Events screen E 875-3, E875-2, E875-1, E661-3, E878-3, E875-3, E875-2, E875-1, then repeats starting with E361-3. Scrolled and found the software # 3139112 if that helps.

70-3 relates to the parking brake switch. You might be well advised to troubleshoot that first. See the attached. You will also need an electrical schematic. Check your message inbox.

Cancel the above. I looked again at the instructions for accessing Service Mode. At Step 1 when you press the two button for three seconds and then release and as you say "goes to a blank screen with open book symbol..." That is Service Mode 1 (Active Codes). Then when you press the Mode button once and see the floppy disk symbol and the list of Codes appears you are in Mode 2 that shows Logged Codes. So the items on that list were Active at one time but are not Active right now. Therefore it appears as though you have NO Active Diagnostic Codes at this time - at least not with the machine stopped. To give you some idea of the long list you posted above. 70 refers to the parking brake swith 490 - implement lockout switch 600 - hyd oil temp sensor 1251 - Product Link (most likely not activated on your machine) 2471 - Door switch 2474/75/76/77 - joystick position sensors 2685/86/87/88 - LH & RH drive motor speed sensors. I suggest try the following. Start up the machine and once the engine is running put the Monitor into Service Mode 1 (which according to the above was a blank screen apart from the small book icon in the top LH corner). Try to move the machine. Do any Codes appear in that window.?
