Cat 301.8 Fuse failure (starter)

Please help Blows starter fuse when ignition set to start Circuit seems to be fix up in till After glow complete set to start fuse then fails. i remove seat and steel panels to inspect for wire failure. nothing. i put new fuse in. turned key. i hear the normal relay clicks and i be leave the Fuel system priming. Turned key to engage starter the fuse fails? can i run new start wire. or do these signs point to starter replacement? Please help

    Disconnect the wire from the starter solenoid. Tape it or make sure it does not ground out. Try the key then. If it still pops you have a short to ground somewhere else, possibly in the switch (hard to believe). If it doe not you will need a new solenoid (windings shorted) or a whole new starter

    Check your wire going to your injection pump. Sounds like you have wire grounding out.

    We had a 301.5 do the same thing and it turned out that the wires that went to the safety in the arm rest cut and grounded out.
