Anyone know where the fuel tank filter is located?? It’s a 2016 cat 305.5E. It pops up on the screen saying fuel tank filter change. And it’s not the fuel filter because that pops up on the screen as well. Looking forward to any responses.
Post a Serial Number please. "2016 cat 305.5E" doesn't really mean much. There are a dozen or so different models.
Ok I understand. Serial number is FKY02196
Believe that is for the actual in-tank strainer that sits below the fuel cap. Had the same message pop up on a 303.5E2 a few months back and spent a good hour on SIS trying to find out if there was an inline filter other that the fuel filter itself.
Maybe, my machine doesn’t have one right now. And the people at cat were saying it maybe that because they couldn’t find a inline one on the computer.
Could the lack of the strainer be the reason the message is coming up.?
Not sure, never had a strainer when I bought it. And it’s the first time I seen that pop up on the screen.
Don't believe so, at least not for the E series. Should be a pre-set interval that pops up at a certain hour range. I reset mine after i cleaned the strainer out with brake clean and put it back to work.
Good thought. To the OP - have you tried resetting the maintenance timer.? Do you know how to.? If not the instructions are contained in the Operation & Maintenance Manual which speaks thusly......... "The "MAINTENANCE INFO" menu allows the operator to view the current hours of use and the recommended change intervals for various system components. The intervals can also be reset."
