The hydraulic light is flashing and the alarm is on but not until running it for about a couple of hours. Changed the hydraulic oil filter in tank but it’s still happening. What should I check on next? Got enough hydraulic oil in it. Machine is about 20 years old. Thanks!

Can you post a machine Serial Number and a photo of the warning light in question.

This is the serial number but I don’t have a photo of the flashing warning light yet but I’m quite sure that it’s the hydraulic one, thanks!

You REALLY need an Operation & Maintenance Manual. More on that subject in a bit............. #10 is the general Operator Alert Light. #8 indicates Low Engine Oil Pressure. The reason #10 is also on is that low engine oil pressure is considered sufficiently serious for the warning system to be screaming at the operator. So the best thing to do is locate the engine oil pressure switch #6. This switch is Normally Closed and opens with rising engine oil pressure. So with the engine warmed up and idling pull the single green wire off the switch and ground it to the engine block. Does the warning go off.? If you prove that the switch is functioning correctly the next step would be to connect a known good mechanical pressure gauge to the engine oil gallery and see what pressure you are ACTUALLY getting. Now to your manual. You are looking for Cat Publication reference SEBU8021. Here is a genuine OEM original for sale on eBay for $42. Probably the best money you'll ever spend.
