I have a CAT 307 with a remote filter and the lines to the filter are leaking. Ordered new and now need to put them in. Anyone have any guidance on how to get these lines off the motor without tearing the machine to pieces. They are connected to the back of the motor... any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!
Here's a suggestion - how about a Serial Number that might help find the info you're looking for..? There are over a dozen versions of the 307.
Sure thing. CAT0307CHBNE01380
OK, so we have a 307C. Do #1 & 2 in this diagram look like the oil lines you want to replace...? To me it appears as though both ends ought to be accessible and the clip underneath the engine marked 5-6-7 ought to be accessible if you drop the lower cover under the engine oil pan that has to be removed to drain the engine oil. You might end up with a few skinned knuckles but it appears to be do-able.
Short answer, no. They're a bit of a front-bum to get to. You need to remove the panels from over the swing box and then you can remove another panel to get access to the back of the engine. I suggest replacing the fan belts at the same time.
Gotta love these new compact excavators, reminds me of working on early skid steers back in the 80's.... didn't like it then, don't do it now, LOL!
Hey Folks.... thanks for fast turn around on this... was able (thanks to your help) get the job done.! Had to remove all of the panels around the motor. Once we did that it was just enough to get a modified wrench (had to cut the wrench short) and a persuader in and remove the hoses behind the motor. After that it went pretty quick. My business partner did end with busted knuckles.
They don't call them Compact Excavators for nothing ...... Glad it went reasonably well. Face it, at least they weren't your knuckles that got busted...!! When it comes to what would be thought of as "smaller" equipment I always remember an old mate of mine's quote - "if you can't walk underneath it it's not worth working on" ........
We are a small outfit primarily doing drainage systems for agriculture (tile) and have been in business a little over a year. The 307C is a step up for us. Our other machine... the one we started the business with, is a Takeuchi TB-135. As some of our customers call it... "The Little Tike". As the business grows perhaps we'll see a machine we can walk under in a couple years. Thanks again.
