CAT314E Problem: Swing breaks seem to be working whenever the lever to operate is down, stops all movements well. if you move the swing function with operating lever up the swing does not stop to the left or right and you can push it with your hands and it’ll move. Seems like an electrical problem, any ideas?
Swing brake doesn't apply until 6 or seven seconds after swing request stops, unless in fine swing mode. In fine swing mode (or swing brake switched off), the brake won't apply until the pilot lockout is on (lever down). Swing motion is stopped by simply stove piping the oil circuits. So, on level ground, swing a little, let go of controls, and, after 7 or so seconds, if the swing stops (and you can't push it by hand), then the swing brake electrical is working.
Do you have the free swing switch in the “free” position? The swing brake will never come on if you do.
Turns out it was fine swing mode, we did not know this was on our machine… working good now, thanks!
