CAT 316 Excavator – BACKUP ALARM ALWAYS ON

JWJ285 · 2020-02-25 23:12

CAT 316 backup alarm always stays on. Any thoughts on how to trouble shoot this? Disconnecting alarm is not an option.

S/N? Most likely its shorted to another circuit. Could always remove fuses from non-essential accessories and see which one makes it stop. Or inspect the entire harness from travel alarm to its power source and see if you can find 2 wires rubbed together.

A 316 is so new that an electrical schematic isn't yet available on SIS. Surely this is a warranty issue?

I have seen some travel alarms that go off for no reason if you get them wet inside from washing machine . Could be the travel pressure sensor but I’m not sure where to look for it on a 316 Probably attached to travel pilot control valve under floor pedals.

Go into service mode, then proceed to ECM analog inputs. Status of switches is shown. Horn button, pilot lockout, pressure switch for travel, etc. That let's you verify nearly every button and switch on there.
