Cat 320E 2 pump merge (priority flow)

Jasexc ยท 2014-07-02 01:27

Hi all, i just traded my kobelco in for a new cat 320e and im wanting to get it plumbed up similar to the way i had my kobelco. Im running a brush cutter which requires the bulk of my oil flow. I have removed the flow divider and all the parts i had on the kobelco so i could use whatever i needed on my new machine. My question is on the E series is this necessary, or can i get my max flow out of my pumps another way? If it is necessary i can figure out how to plumb it but im not sure where to get my pump load sensing from? If anyone has done this and can shed some light id appreciate it.

When you say "new", do you mean you bought it new from a dealer? Cat HEXs can have one of several different attachment hydraulics systems installed from the factory. If so you would obviously have told them what you want it for and they would have specced the appropriate system for you. If that's the case, two-pump one-way flow is turned on from the control panel in the cab. Instructions should be in the OMM. If you can't work it out, have a word with your salesman and get him you send someone out to set it up for you, FOC.

Factory flow puts oil to main mcv valve first than the aux valve no matter how its ordered, 2 pump priority gives 100% priority to aux then what is left goes to mcv. My cat dealer has no clue unless its factory then they just read the omm

If you can get into the dealer ask the sales person to take you to meet the Technical Communicator. He'll generally be buried somewhere in the back of the Service Dept. Ask that guy to put a question in the DSN system asking for a solution to your issue.

ul No valve can take full priority of the flow but maybe you are thinking about this? Enhanced Multi-Function Parameter #14 This feature will enhance the synchronous operation of the work tool and other machine implement movement by switching the pump supplying oil to the work tool from idler pump to drive pump. This action will occur when the work tool is operated at the same time as a Boom UP, Stick OUT, or Swing function occurs. This feature is only available when the parameter for the pump supplying oil to the work to is set to "Combined Flow". For example, when the work tool is operated along with a Boom UP operation, the boom UP operation is sensed by the machine ECM. The machine ECM sends the signal to the proportional reducing valves for the attachment control valves. The pilot pressure to attachment control valve #1 for the idler pump oil is shut off. This spool centers and allows all of the oil from the idler pump be used for the Boom UP function. The supply oil for the work tool is provided by the drive pump It can be turned off or on. Whats your serial?

Nige, never thought of having them do a dsn question i might give that a try. Per eriksson, i understand what your describing and i know on the "E" series they have started using combined flow more but thats not what im thinking. On my last machine i installed a "priority" valve. It was plumbed between the pumps and the mcv, it was more less an in and out like normal but with 1 extra out line which is your preassure supply for an attachment. I was able to max both pumps out and put 100% of oil FROM BOTH PUMPS to my attachment, if i put 100% i didnt have any preassure to swing track or anything else but you get the idea.

I familiar with these types of valves, in our part of the world the best is www.dynaset.com , they have for both LS type and NFC systems but we only use them when the machines isn't equipped with 2 pump flow or as in the last case, a 365B in a steel mill that needed to run 2 aux flows independetly . What kind of monster brush cutter is it you have that need that much flow? What is your flow and pressure requiered and what's your serial so we can determine exactly how the machine is equipped? I haven't encountered an attachment yet that couldn't be configured and run on the original 2 pump flow system satisfactory.
