Cat 3406 turbo mounting

A friend has an MBN engine that eats the studs mounting the turbo like candy. If they don't loosen up they break off, the local shops act like they've never heard of it before. It happened with the original parts, now he has a PDI manifold and a C16 turbo, it still does it. Any ideas why it happens and if there's a cure?

Your local shops are full of it. Ive dealt with a bunch of C-15s with the same issue. Both the single turbos and the series turbos. I dont think their 3/8" studs are up to the task. Cummins got it right going to 12 mm studs on the ISX turbos. Too bad they went with 10 mm bolts on the exhaust manifolds.
