We have a Cat 65E Challenger and we are having some problems with the detents. A few years back a mechanic looked at it and took the whole valve body out and figured it was just a detent. (and he fixed it) So we was having problems with #2 and had a different mechanic come down and he couldn't find out what was wrong with it. He proposed to pull the fuel tanks and lift the cab to get the valve out. (the first mechanic didn't) So i remembered that it was just a detent and put a new one on and the valve seems like it works but nothing works with that remote. now #3 is getting stiff so i was wondering if anyone knows how to adjust the detents? So i can get #2 working.
I don't know about your valve in particular, but the detent is often just a ball and spring acting on a small groove on the spool. Maybe the spring is getting soft? ISZ
