hi i have a Cat 941B traxcavator that I am unable to start was going and starting ok is turning over and will fire on easy start past owner said that one time he was unable to start it and after a lot of looking found out it was to do with the linkage to the diesel cut out has anyone had this happen? and where to start looking? throttle is hard to move to the cut out location ,bucket is down and I don't want to start having to fight my way into the engine compartment if it is to do with the linkage before that?

Sounds like it could well be the fuel shut off. If it's operated by the throttle, try starting it at full throttle and then slow it down once it starts. Are you getting any smoke when it turns over? When you say easy start, do you mean ether? Don't ruin an engine using ether. Figure why fuel isn't get to the injectors. Was at an estate auction several years where they couldn't get a Komatsu loader started that had been running great the day before. They were boosting it and feeding it ether and it did nothing. Finally someone suggested checking the weird fuel shut off again(4th time) and it started right up. I'm sure the hour or so boosting and using ether didn't help bring the sale price up. I think it would be a good idea to lube and free up the linkage so it operates properly so you're not praying every time you want to start it.

thanks was thinking of trying at full throtlle and there is no smoke when turning over and it looks as the cover over the handthrottle has been removed at sometime think i will start from that end
