Question: What valve and or cause of trans torque converter quits pulling when it get hot or after it runs for several hours regularly. It will still pull a little, but not full power? Cut it off allow to cool an hour or so, or cool overnight and it will go back like new. Thank you,
What vintage is it?
It is a 950 B. Thank you for your respons
You don't get enough flow from the converter to the cooler basically, there are a number of things that can cause that. worn pump, evidence of wear usually can be seen in the filter. Defective transmission control valve, some minor updates that fixes that are avaliable. Converter needs overhauling, worn bearings and/or seals. Checked the filter and screen recently? Do you have anything to check pressures with?
Check the trans pump pressure between high and low idle. It shouldn't drop more than 10 percent with warm oil. Check in all gears with oil up to temp. Also stall torque(3rd gear with brakes on) watch temp gauge as it goes up, then put in neutral and watch the direction of the temp gauge. Look for it to go up Slightly before dropping. Later Bob
