Machine starts and runs but when I hit the switch to disengage the "lock out" it won't work. I replaced the switch and it worked for about 30 minutes then got out of machine and got back in, hit the switch and it won't disengage the brake or hydraulics???
Please does anyone have any suggestions?
hi I am assuming serial number prefix MDH ? if the machine starts the seat switch and the armrest switch are OK what are the arm rest and park brake indicator lights showing -on, off or flashing have you checked the door switch or if door not fitted ,the jumper wire? Be warned the interlock ECM has been known to fail mark
Yes it is a MDH. Thanks for responding. The arm and hydraulic lights goes off like normal. The park light remains on and is solid. A couple of times it did go off for a moment but then lit and the machine will not engage. Checked fuses. All seem a to. Be in good order. Just will not release from park??
Hi ,sounds like you may have a faulty park brake switch circuit here is the procedure to check Also don't forget the door switch as diagnostics don't cover that circuit Troubleshooting 247B, 257B, 267B, 277B and 287B Multi Terrain Loaders and 216B, 226B, 232B, 236B, 242B, 246B, 248B, 252B, 262B and 268B Skid Steer Loaders Interlock Electronic Control System Media Number -RENR6417-01 Publication Date -01/08/2005 Date Updated -03/08/2005 i01995806 Switch (Parking Brake) SMCS - 7332-038-BRK Test Step 1. CHECK FOR PROPER OPERATION Occupy the seat. Place the armrest in the DOWN position. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Press and release the parking brake switch. Expected Result: The parking brake indicator should be off. Results: OK - The parking brake indicator is off. Repair: There is no problem at this time. Stop. NOT OK - The parking brake indicator is on and the armrest indicator is off. Proceed to Test Step 2. NOT OK - The parking brake indicator is on and the armrest indicator is flashing. Repair: See Troubleshooting, "Armrest Indicator Is Flashing". Stop. NOT OK - The parking brake indicator is flashing. Repair: The parking brake indicator is not working properly. See Troubleshooting, "Parking Brake Indicator Is Flashing". Stop. Test Step 2. CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH Turn the key start switch to the OFF position. Remove the parking brake switch. Disconnect the wire harness from the switch. Press the switch. Measure the resistance from terminal 2 to terminal 3 of the parking brake switch. Expected Result: The resistance should be less than 5 Ohms. Results: OK - The resistance is less than 5 Ohms. Proceed to Test Step 3. NOT OK - The resistance is not less than 5 Ohms. Repair: The parking brake switch has failed. Replace the parking brake switch. Stop. Test Step 3. CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH Jumper wire F780-PK to wire 201-BK in the wire harness for the parking brake switch. Raise the cab. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cab Tilting". Locate the interlock ECM. The interlock ECM is located on the left side of the machine beneath the access cover on the floor of the machine. Disconnect the wire harness from the ECM. Measure the resistance from contact 42 to contact 3 (wire F780-PK to wire 201-BK) on the wire harness connector. Expected Result: The resistance should be less than 5 Ohms. Results: OK - The resistance is less than 5 Ohms. Repair: The ECM is very unlikely to have failed. Reconnect all connections and visually inspect the wire harness. Verify that the diagnostic code still exists. If the diagnostic code still exists perform the Test Steps again.Replace the ECM, if the cause of the diagnostic code was not found after the second attempt. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". Stop. NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5 Ohms. Repair: The wire harness has an open. Repair the wire harness and/or the connector or replace the wire harness and/or the connector. Stop. If you need a schematic let me know Mark
Thanks Mark. Since I replaced the brake switch and the armrest indicator does not come on I think it probably is the ECM. Will check the wiring to be sure.
Mark, is there a way I can bypass the lock out. I'm not looking for something that is unsafe but the machine is an hour and a half in the middle of nowhere. I just want to get it on the trailer and get it to the shop.
you Can bypass the inter lock ECM but only as a last resort as NO SAFTY FEATURES will work Remove the plastic surrounds of both joysticks fabricate a jumper wire to supply 12 volts to the pilot control solenoid for travel and work tools lift the cab fabricate a jumper wire to supply 12 volts to the park brake solenoid .from memory it is on the left hand side frame as the B series are mostly hydraulic in control and operation that should give you limited operation BE VERY CAREFUL as all SAFETYS are bypassed Mark
Mark, I had to replace the ECM. It was really in bad shape. Back together and the dealer programed it. Everything works except the aux hydraulics is not working correctly. It should be activated with the "thumb wheel" on the left joystick. Instead it's activated by the "trigger" on the left joystick and is very erratic. Is this due to the programming of the ECM? Or could it be something else I did wrong in the re-assembly?
Hi sounds like the joystick to ecm is set to switch needs to be set to pwm for thumb wheel you need ET to do it They should of asked what aux joystick you had Mark
with regard to the trigger on the RH joystick that is normally for two speed operation it is also enabled through the ECM with ET
