I've got a friend who has a '97 Cat D400E haul truck. He said he had a motor mount fail which led to the transmission case breaking. He's wondering if anyone knows of other equipment that would utilize the same transmission so he could hopefully broaden his search for a useable transmission. Does anyone know if there are other types of equipment running the same transmission? Thanks all!! Chris
Need a Serial Number for the D400E in order to go looking.........
SYR00643
It's actually 2YR but no problem. The complete Transmission Arrangement is 123-0755. So here is a list of all the other models and S/N prefixes that use the 123-0755. D350E - 9LR D350E Series II - 2XW D400E - 2YR One transmission that will NOT fit is the 141-4147 from a D400E Series II (APF or 8PS S/N prefix). The two transmissions are totally different. If he wants to look for a 123-0757 Case Group (7G-7135 Case As) there are also three S/N prefixes of AD30 model Underground Articulated Trucks that use it. The S/N prefixes are CXR, DXR, & GXR. There may be more models outside the articulated truck range that use the same case.
Thanks Nige!! I was talking him this weekend and he mentioned this problem and I told him I know a guy on a forum that probably can help you out!
There are............. Wheel Loaders - 980C (13B, 63X, 2XD), 980F (3HK, 8CJ), 988B (50W) Wheel Dozers - 824C (85X), 834B (92Z, 7BR)
Perfect! He was hoping that there might be some other equipment lines that used it instead of just haul trucks.
TBH if it is only the case that is damaged he might be better served searching somewhere such as Machinery Trader Parts for either a 123-0757 Case Group or a 7G-7135 Case As then transplant all the guts of his transmission into it. There is an even lower level 8P-3155 Part Number that is the Case on its own. Machinery Trader shows almost 200 hirs between the three Part Numbers. Photos to confirm exactly what is cracked might be a good idea at this point.
