Hy gents, looking for the test procedure and tune for low boost in my D5H, engine 3304 DI, serial nr 1DD06574, Thanks
Nobody has an idea? What do u guys do when u find your engine has low boost? .3 bar... really low, no damage visible or leaks... please throw some ideas...
check fuel pressure does it have the right turbo and the right setting on injection pump
Fuel press is fine. Turbo is original and has no signs of wear or play, intake got no leaks... Engine was tested for compression, average 25BAR cold engine, guess is a good test, valves were out of lash values , but were set correct. Oil pressure shows good, no leaks , engine show every sign of be in good shape. I suspect IP setting, as machine came from an auction... strange is that the turbo does not wissle as is common in this engines... (does not wissle cause does not build press... so not much strange here). Other thing is smoke, machine does not smoke at all, even when WOT from idle, not even a sign of black smoke, wich i find strange as this IP does not have an altitude compensation device, or whatever CAT call´s it.(fuel cut out off boost). Thats why i would like to have acess to the CAT manual procedure for this troubleshooting... wich i don´t :/
hello, gentleman ... imputs needed pls
Hello, Just to leave some feedback… eventually played the trick on the governor fuel increase controls and got some boost back along with some black smoke. Interesting someone got there first, I just wonder why would they reduce the fuel flow? Or whatever why were they playing the fuel control… I guess this fuel pump setup is prone to smoking… as it lacks altitude compensation… everithing would be fine and tuned correctly , if in the meanwhile the starter didn’t quit…. That’s when one feels like to turn it on fire…
