Take a look at the Message Window of the Monitor panel after you first turn the key on. After the self-test of all the warning lights, etc, does the SERV CODE icon in the top RH corner of the window stay on or go out.?

OK, so you have one or more active Diagnostic Codes. With the key on press switch #43 and the Monitor Panel should go into Diagnostic Mode. It will show a list of the Codes. Each Code will display in 2 parts. First something like "030" will appear, followed a couple of seconds later by something like "096F03". When it gets to the end of the list it will display either "---" or "end". At the same time as watching and writing down the Code you should pay attention if the SERV CODE icon is lit up for each one. If it lights up that indicates that the Code is active, and those are the ones we need to identify to see if they have any relation to your steering problem.

I have 2 active codes they are 030 110.08 and 030 271.05 could these codes be part of the problem and is their a way for me to clear them . Thank you for helping

030.110.08 is the coolant temperature sensor. 030.271.05 is the warning buzzer for the Monitor System. Neither of those is going to affect the steering control. My next suspect would be the fingertip control itself. There are position sensors attached to the left and right levers, and IMHO if there was an issue with one or other of those sensors they would generate a Diagnostic Code - but there is no Code. It might pay you to have a look inside the control and see if you can spot anything amiss, or does it smell burned.? They do fail from time to time and there used to be a repair kit available for them but that option isn't available any more. The Part Number for the LH one is 122-7372 (replaced by 344-7849) and it's priced at around $600.

Here’s a thought. See if you can get the covers off, disconnect the electrical wiring from the LH fingertip control and connect it temporarily to the RH FTC. If the steering on the LH side of the machine then works fine when it is connected to the RH FTC that would confirm that the LH FTC is indeed the problem.

I had my right FTC on my D5M quite working, no steering to the right. Turns out the plastic gear inside finally wore out, there was nothing left when I pulled it apart. I ended up replacing both with the kit Nige described above. Cat sells a rebuilt kit but thought much easier with new. You do not have to calibrate after you replace. Put the new ones in and was good to go.
