Hi guys, were going over our recent purchase, and at the point of inspection and purchase, third gear had been removed from operations as it was doing quarry work, and the site supervisor advised us they remove access to third gear by the operators, although he didn't know the procedure. I wasn't worried about this factor, as I have uncounted this action some years ago, and imagined it only to be a disconnected solenoid to third gear. We put it to the supervisor that we wanted the situation rectified before we had it collected for transport to home. It wasn't done, and I wont be back at the dozer until other parts arrive on Tuesday, and i'm wondering if i'm correct in my assumption. Serial CAT00D6RVLGP00260.
If it has been done "by the book" you'll need to get hold of someone with Cat ET. Blocking off 3rd speed for both forward and reverse (2 separate parameters) is done in the Configuration Screen of the transmission ECM. If the 3rd gear solenoid was disconnected it would generate a Diagnostic Code.
