Cat D7E track adjuster removal

Hi, To remove and repair the track adjusters on our D7E do we need to remove the front upper roller tower and the pads etc. where the front equalizer bar sits? Or once it is unbolted from the idler push rod, and the idler slid ahead, will it come backwards out of the recoil spring and have enough room to be lifted out? Thanks as always, Matt
