Cat D8K oil pan leaking.

We have a d8k with an engine oil leak that increasingly got worse over a couple days of work to the point of leaking about 20 liters in a couple hours. We removed the rear stump pan and it seems as though the oil is leaking from the oil pan. I believe the oil pan is a two piece unit. Just wonder if any one has a best way to replace the oil pan gasket. It seem like it's coming out at the back end of the motor and running down just behind the equalizer bar into the rear stump pan. Any ideas or helpful hint greatly appreciated. Thanks.

On the K's to get the sump off its engine out or engine up a few inches being the best way to tackle it with any chance, also check the E/Beam pin is in its correct location and not rubbing its end on the back case, then check both rear engine mounts as these are always breaking free or rattling loose, this happens on the Hydraulic Pump side more commonly, they undo the bolts on both planes on these mounts so have a good look, this also leads to sump bolts rattling loose, the engine back case can also be a leaking Oil Well needing the flywheel off just to add to the drama some, anyhow if it is the sump sweating only and all is good pull in the back bolts first at a nip to make a good contact through the vertical joint of the sump with the F/Wheel case, I would like to say its a 2 hour job, but if you take 2 days you are doing well. tctractors p.s. with the sump off check the oil pump drive coupling as a Must Do.

Thanks for the info. I have been side tracked with some other work so I will let you know how it goes when we get to working on this dozer in the future. I will likely be needing some more helpful hint when that happens. Thanks for now.
