Does anyone else have a problem with over filling of the engine oil on a lot of different Cat machines if you go by the manual capacity chart ?
The Refill Capacity chart for all Cat machines is ONLY a guideline. You should not treat it as gospel. If you change oil and filter, refill until the oil level is a hair over the MAX mark on the "Engine Stopped - Cold Oil" side of the stick. That level is ONLY to be used to determine if the engine is safe to start. Back in the day it used to be stamped "Safe Starting Range". Run the engine for a couple of minutes and re-check the oil level with the engine at Low Idle using the other side of the stick. Top off if necesary. If you're doing a lot of work on slopes at any time with any machine always make sure that the oil is topped off right to the Max mark with the engine idling and the machine dead level. On any machine with hydraulics use them to level the machine if you don't have a piece of flat ground.
was wondering if anybody knows how to switch controls in a Komatsu PC120LC-3 - I would like to switch the boom to the right and the stick to the left but right now its the opposite. Help please.
