Does anyone know how accurate or how user friendly Cat's Onboard Payload Scaling Technology is on Motor Scrapers? Would the operator need to stay in place for 30 seconds to get an accurate settled weight? Or is it truly scaling on the go? Interesting to know if a contractor can take those weights to the bank, and how the system works to gain an accurate payload if the load is shifted towards the front or back of the bowl? Or is it actually inaccurate, and just a marketing ploy?
I see it's called "Payload Estimator" on the spec sheet. Apparently it uses bowl cylinder pressures to estimate the payload in the machine at the start of the loaded travel cycle. Cat are claiming 95% accurate but to my way of thinking that's unrealistic with so many variables being involved and especially because scrapers tend to bounce so much as a scraper does.
