What does it take to change from a Spicer 6 spd to a 9 or 10 spd Eaton Fuller? New transmission brackets? New bell housing? driveshaft? what else? Thanks Jerry
Make sure you have the correct transmission. A 10 speed eaton for a class 8 truck and a class 6 truck have different torque ratings and different bell housings. You most likely will need a different driveshaft and also you will need an air supply for the new tranny. Is there a pto involved ?
Also the clutch linkage may not be the same.
Yes service truck so air compressor and crane
Do you mean the truck has an engine driven air compressor or one to run tools? I wouldn't want to rely on a pto driven compressor to feed my trannsmission.
Not a big deal, hook up with your local trans shop, bell housing size to start, then input shaft size, 11/2 or 2 inch, T300 should have air brakes so you need one air supply for trans range selector, and a drive shaft length change witch is no big deal, and a differant pto, pump is probally a direct mount and you can reuse it. if you running a lower HP engine and pulling a trailer might want to go with a 13 speed. I pulled a 5 speed from mine and went to a 9 SPD, would do it again in a heartbeat.
Mike sorry it has hydraulic driven air compressor so it has hyd pump on tranny to drive air compressor for tools yes it has compressor on engine for air brakes and whatever else.
Thanks overworked had clutch adjusted the other day and now it is not shifting right and I do not like the 6 spd
