This photo is related to an earlier post (Fork lift with low pressure). It the hydraulic tank with the cap and filter removed. It shows the controlled flow return (CF) and the excess flow return (EF). The engine is idling and the steering is not moving. I have two questions. 1. Should there be any return flow on the controlled side (CF) when the steering is not moving? 2. Does the flow on the excess flow (EF) look like a reasonable amount at idle on a center open system? Any advise would be appropriated. This is my first fork lift and I’m try to under the system and troubleshoot at the same time. Thanks
You will have some return with unit running . The pump it pumping as engine runs and has a dump valve that sends oil that is not used back to tank If not pressure will build and blow pump to pieces
