anyone take the clutch fan off there excavator and replace with a direct drive hub
I know that my fuel consumption goes way up when my electroviscous fan is unplugged, and therefore engaged fully.
It would make better sense to clean the radiator and coolers. As heymccall stated, your fuel consumption will go through the roof. Most fans draw between 10-15 hp .
Not to mention noise, we have 2 320c's, one with a viscous clutch and one direct drive, more noise and fuel with the direct drive.
Why are you thinking of doing this.? Has the fan clutch on your excavator failed..?
I definitely would not recommend a direct drive fan in the winter.
If it is belt driven ,would the belt be up to the job ?
